Odlaw release new single ‘Dead On The Inside’

9-piece, award-nominated, and self-proclaimed “Perths best party band”, Odlaw, are in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign to get their upcoming album Mi(l)d Life Crisis out on Vinyl, sharing their latest fun yet dark single Dead On The Inside.

Closing Friday, 22 November, the crowdfunding campaign offers Odlaw fans the opportunity to not only help the band release their fourth album as a physical record but also receive optional rewards corresponding to their pledges, such as receiving the album on vinyl, a merch and vinyl bundle, have a song written for you, and have Odlaw come to perform/ party at your house.

The band’s figurehead, Mark Neal, explains, ”The reality is, we don’t actually know how many people really like us. I hope its enough to justify printing and selling records, but maybe its not. So i’m here today asking you to help fund the album release on Vinyl. You committing to buying now means we can afford do this.”

To raise awareness and sweeten the deal, Odlaw is giving listeners another taste of the upcoming album with the release of their new single, Dead On The Inside, an up-tempo pessimist anthem.

Rich in sonic textures, the track’s gritty rhythm section and poignant lyrics are balanced with the light-hearted flourishes of an organ and a warm, twangy guitar riff – whilst Mark and guitarist/ backing vocalist Veronica sing a back-and-forth lead melody. “I was really excited when Mark asked me to sing with him on this song”, shares Veronica, continuing, “Even though I didn’t write them, I find the lyrics quite relatable. Remember when the world was meant to end in 2012, and then it didn’t? Well, maybe it did. Have any of us really felt alive since then? Maybe we’re all a little dead on the inside.”

Joining previously released singles Friends Lose Friends, Back To Your Bed, and Car Door, Mi(l)d Life Crisis is a coming-of-age record for the band who came together over a weekend to record the full album live with beloved engineer, producer, and The Love Junkies frontman Mitch McDonald at Sumo Studios in Osborne Park, WA

With a loud and high-energy live show, you can catch Odlaw on 2 November at Clancy’s Fish Pub, Fremantle, and 23 November at Lyrics Underground, Maylands, supporting Timothy Nelson & the Infidels. More info: https://linktr.ee/odlawband
